On the early evening of May 23, supporters of the Justice Cecilia Muñoz Palma Foundation trooped to the Kalayaan Hall of Club Filipino in Greenhills, San Juan City to help raise resources for its various projects and activities notably the establishment of the Justice Cecilia Muñoz Palma museum.
The night of music and dancing among friends of the Foundation was transformed into a night of many surprises. Notable personalities graced the event like Senator Cynthia Villar; Mrs. Sonia Roco; Ms. Margie Moran and Architect Felino “Jun” Palafox, Jr. A surprise number was rendered by Ms. Rosebud Ong who showed her dancing skills through an Argentina tango number.
What was more surprising was the Foundation’s way of giving back to its supporters by raffling off Eureka hot and cold water dispensers donated by Aquabest-GQWEST; Regroe and Pregroe hair care products and Gluta Advance skin care products donated by JLC Miller & Company; table runners and bags made from native fabrics like hinabol and tinalak woven by indigenous communities donated by Custom Made Crafts Center; and a set of fashionable bags made out of box twines woven by women inmates of the Davao Corrections facility donated by Humabi bags.
Guests who arrived early at the venue, the dance instructors and the Soundstream band were given Lightwater donated by Suncoast Brands and Aquabest loot bags. On hand to assist in the giving of prizes were Ms. Jessa Bacala, a former scholar of the Foundation who graduated magna cum laude at St. Scholatica’s College and Mr. Mark Anthony de Leon, a current scholar of the Foundation taking up Tool and Die Technology at the MFI Institute.
The event started with a short program with welcome remarks from Ms. Mina Gabor, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation; presentation of sponsors; presentation of the Board of Trustees; and closing message of its vice-chair, Dr. Florangel Rosario Braid. Emcees of the program were Comm. Rene Sarmiento and Ms. Grace Palma Tiongco. Overall management of the event was undertaken by its Executive Director, Ms. Emily Palma.
The Foundation’s Board and Trustees envisions the Dance for Justice event to be an annual gathering of friends and supporters with the goal of raising resources to help sustain the initiatives of the Foundation.
Thank you to the Board Members, sponsors, and all our guests for a successful night!
